Several Common Causes Of Insomnia



There are several common causes of insomnia which are all related to one another. If you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, then chances are that you have the most common sleeping disorder known — insomnia. The person who suffers from insomnia basically has a difficult time getting to sleep and maintaining sleep. For most people, this is a disorder that affects every aspect of their lives and one they would prefer to get rid of; tonight, if possible. A positive note on insomnia is that there are some types of this disorder that generally resolves themselves.

Generally, if you are suffering from insomnia for a physical reason, you can expect it to go away on it’s own. These are usually some degree of pain or discomfort that stems from injuries, ailments and sicknesses which can be treated.

The most common causes of insomnia, however, are depression, anxiety, and stress, not physical illness. Anxiety and depression are both generally, but not always, caused by stress. You find stress in every thing that you do and in every interaction with other people, whether it be work and your boss, or at home and with your friends and family. Stress can be a positive driving factor for many people, one which energizes them and makes them do their best work in order to achieve their goals; for others, however, stress is something to be feared and avoided. Stress is perhaps tops among the common causes of insomnia simply because just about everyone is exposed to one level of stress or another in the course of their daily lives. Stress can be seen in the work place, at home and when with family and friends or with other employee and employers.

Anxiety can be a common cause of insomnia because a fearful and anxious person will have a difficult time sleeping as well as maintaining sleep. It is common because many people are anxious and fearful over something in their lives most of the time. The fears of children and adults can manifest themselves when the individual is alone in bed and can promote loss of sleep due to thinking things over and over. There are also other things to be anxious or fearful for such as loss of work, loss of loved ones and many others.

Depression is also among the common causes of insomnia in people. As a common cause of insomnia, depression can be torture for some people. The loss and loneliness that depression generate can cause a person to lose sleep simply due to the sheer strength of the feelings. These strong feelings will cause physical reactions in the person who is having them. The body also slows down and the person is more and more lethargic or anxious due to the bodily reactions that manifests when a person feels depressed.
